The so-called BER MONTHS, a phenomenon that seemed to be inculcated in every Pinoys' mind, has become an unescapable cultural thing. All through the years in the Philippines, all months that ends with BER is considered to be official seasons of Yuletide fun, thus one can experience lighting of Christmas trees in most towns and cities, playing of Christmas songs in the malls, caroling at night or people decorating their houses with Christmas ornaments this early.
SUB PHENOMENA
As mentioned, malls get to play Christmas songs to lure people to spend before the usual Western Christmas season. This sub-phenomenon has emerged long time ago but annually Christmas songs of Jose Mari Chan are being blasted via speakers not only in the malls but also in jeepneys and radio stations. Carolers his hits when they go from house to house. This usual hit songs are Christmas in Our Hearts and A Perfect Christmas. These usual staples have become part of cultural phenomenon which created another SUB-SUB Culture via Funny Memes where images of Jose Mari Chan is shown preparing to sing these songs. These memes have become larger than life that the singer himself has surprised and thankful for being immortalized and becoming a symbol of Christmas in the Philippens. These undying annual Jose Mari Chan BER MONTHS memes, which has evolved from simple fun to crazy ones, also inspired other memes starring artists like Ariel Rivera, Sex Bomb Dancers, Maria Carey and Gary V who have their own Christmas hits but have been sidelined by Jose Mari Chan's much more striking popularity all throughout the years.
